North East Ohio Clean Transportation Program
West Shore Commuter Rail Project
Help stitch Northeast Ohio back together by supporting a rail commuter line from Lorain County to Cleveland. Rail transit equals sustainiable transportation by moving far more people in far less space with far less energy. The western suburbs are growing, but people have no alternative to driving. The West Shore Commuter line will provide the public an affordable and easy to use alternative to the private automobile. This rail line will enable higher density mixed use development (think Crocker Park without so much parking!) along an already well populated existing rail line. This is called smart growth!

"Public support for the West Shore Commuter Corridor is growing daily. A
citizen’s group, the Northern Ohio Commuter Rail Coalition is
sponsoring a series of town meetings in Oberlin and at Lorain Community
College. These citizens and your elected officials want to explore
placing a ballot initiative for commuter rail service on the November
2008 ballot for Lorain County."
These meetings will:
• Gauge the depth of support for commuter rail service to Cleveland and
work to create a local dedicated source of public transit funding
• Develop additional grass-roots support for rail service
• Combine education funding, economic development, and rail service funding into a comprehensive ballot initiative package
