Ford 2010 North American battery electric van
Ford is set to retail a battery powered electric vehicle (BEV) to fleet customers in North America in 2010!  The vehicle will be based on the Transit Connect Van, which has sold more than 600,000 units in 58 countries  since 2003.  The Transit Connect offers 148 cubic feet of cargo volume, a cargo payload of 1,600 pounds, & second row dual sliding doors.  The BEV version will ship with a lithium-ion battery capable of either a 60 or 100 mile range, depending on need.

The  gasoline powered version of the Transit Connect, which will make its North American debut this summer, is expected to deliver at least 20 city and 24 highway mpg, pending EPA fuel economy certification.  Estimated retail on the gasoline powered version is $21K.
